Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

Eligibility comes from the advertised post

An E&TC, ECE or related degree title is not automatically accepted wherever a notice says electronics. Read the exact accepted qualifications and any equivalence provisions. Eligibility to sit GATE is separate from eligibility for a job.

Build an application checklist

For each post record the official advertisement number, discipline, accepted degree titles, minimum marks/CGPA conversion rule, completion deadline, age cutoff and applicable provisions, required GATE paper and score year, fees, application deadline and selection stages. Keep the notice and any corrigenda together.

Apply carefully

1. Open the employer's official recruitment page and locate the post's notice.
2. Check every mandatory criterion before paying or submitting.
3. Prepare the requested certificates and identity details; ensure names and dates agree.
4. Fill the employer's application separately when required. A GATE application does not automatically apply to an employer.
5. Review uploaded documents, category claims and declarations against the notice, then retain the submitted form and receipt.
6. Track official updates and document-verification instructions.

Example

A hypothetical post accepts EC scores from a specified year and requires degree completion by 30 June. A valid GATE score from another year or a degree finishing later may not satisfy that notice. Do not substitute general GATE score validity for the employer's rule.

Common mistakes

Assuming every electronics-related degree is equivalent; missing a separate application deadline; treating an old recruitment notice as a current vacancy; paying an intermediary promising selection.
